“The Video Storyteller”
Hi, I am Owen O’Malley, from Boca Raton, Florida. I create video montages from your home movies and pictures that debut on the big screen at your special events such as Weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Graduations, Sweet Sixteens, Retirement Dinners and Birthday Parties.
I have found my passion. I love watching your guests laugh and cry as they ride the emotional roller coaster that my movies take them on. I get “chills” when the video montage plays to a room full of people.
This is How I Got Started in Video.
My first experiences with filming were with the family movie camera when I was about ten years old. My dad would let me use the camera and I set out making creative home movies. My only regret is that I never sat down with my dad when he would edit our home movies. I didn’t realize at the time how lucky we were that he edited all our home movies.
When my son was born I bought my first video camera and captured all the monumental moments of his early years…his first steps…the traditional first birthday cake all over the face…and numerous bath tub scenes.
I’ve Been Shooting Video for Over 20 Years.
As he got older and started playing sports and music…I became his personal videographer. Our home movie collection includes many football and baseball games…lots of jazz concerts and a few church plays. Some of my most memorable moments were reviewing the football films after his games. He was the quarterback and I recorded every offensive play. At home that night…or in the car on the way home…we got to relive all the plays…together.
I Recognize the Value of Video Montages.
When my son graduated from high school I had the idea of taking all his home movies and editing them into a video montage of his life. My family gathered for a graduation pool party so I got a TV, set up a mini-theater around the pool and showed the video. It was a huge hit and the most popular comment was…”We need to shoot more video of our kids”.
My next video montage was for my niece’s Bat Mitzvah. Her party had a surfing theme so I put together a video from her home movies, pictures and the footage I shot of her at the beach with her girlfriends…surfing. The movie was a huge success and everyone told me…”You should do this as a business.”
So now…“I DO THIS STUFF FOR A LIVING“…and I love it.
